Dorothy and her cute doggy Toto do not try to find way home from behind the rainbow any more after an English rock band Pink Floyd gave their own version of Pink Floyd Wizard of Oz, Dark Side of the Rainbow.
Wait! Wizard of Oz, an MGM movie, was made 1939 – according to my son, in the ancient times. To be truth, Pink Floyd’s 1973 album, The Dark Side of the Moon, lies for him in the same ancient times.
Now, on the more serious note: Dark Side of the Rainbow aka Dark Side of Oz aka The Wizard of Floyd, is some sort of synchronization between classic MGM movie and Pink Floyd album. One watches the film and listens to music at the same time. Many believe that the movie and the music somehow correspond with each other.

For a while the ringtone industry was crazy about funny ringtones: noises, funny sentences, movie quotes, people singing funny stuff, etc. But there are many articles that claim that consumers are now moving back to music ringtones. Especially teenagers like to have their current favourite songs on their cell phones.
What is high up on the music charts in general is also high up on the ringtone charts. The Billboard hot ringtone charts show you at any time what the most frequently downloaded ringtones in the US are. For this week the number one is Grupo Montez de Durango with “Adios amor the vas”. The rest of the top ten is made up by rappers such as 50 Cent, P Diddy or Afroman.
However, it can be seen that not all songs of these rappers are new ones. Afroman’s “Because I got high” was already released in 2001 and has been popular ever since. Two other themes are also part of the top ten which is the Pink Panther and the Mario Bros Theme, that can also be considered all time classics.
Looking at the next ten positions the field is more mixed up ranging from songs by Alicia Keys or Nelly Furtado to Nickelback and Led Zeppelin. Seems that people are really most interested in having songs as their tinstones, tough they don’t have to be the newest ones.
If consumers decide to download ringtones they have to make yet another decision apart from the song. There are monophonic ringtones, polyphonic ringtones, real tones and sing tones available on the market. They are of different quality, which is why the decision for the ringtone type is almost equally important as the ringtone choice.

Good food and good music are requirements for any great event, and New York-based Marc Weiss, also known as DJ Chef, will supply both. Weiss can bring his turntables and cooking equipment to a venue, then spin some tunes as he shakes a skillet, creating customized meals for smaller events. He also offers cooking lessons for larger corporate or private events, allowing guests to try their hand at cooking or to dance up a storm while sampling the menu and the dance mix.

The Iowa travel guide lists many places to see a concert around the state. The Wells Fargo arena is the largest of the venues and can seat several hundred thousand people and I’ve been told there isn’t a bad seat in the house. There have been many top performers that have played there as well as a few of the lesser known artists. Just forty five minutes north of there is the Iowa State University campus. This is the place to go in central Iowa to see the latest up and coming artists. College campuses have always attracted these sorts of people as well as other more well known artists. On the eastern side of the state the University of Northern Iowa has the best facilities to put on a show. There is a concentration of people on the eastern border so it is not surprising that there would be a venue on that side of the state. The western side of the state doesn’t really have a large venue, but just across the river is Omaha. That is where western Iowa fans go to view their favorite bands. And I can’t forget one of the best venues – the Iowa State Fair. For ten days out of the year the grandstand is filled to overflowing with a different attraction each evening.

World renowned Pop music singing artists Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake are just a couple of the many popular recording artists that are in the pop genre. There aren’t many of the worlds Pop music fans who hasn’t heard their music or who doesn’t know the lyrics to all of their fantastic Pop songs. Their Pop music hits are popular because everyone enjoys singing along to them. And that is the main reason why today’s pop music artists are the most successful out of all the music genres. That is why free Pop music downloads and fee-based Pop music downloads leads the Internet in downloadable MP3 music files. Pop music songs have the widest range of music fans from all ages. Let’s face it, young children can’t sing-a-long to a heavy metal or hard rock song, so pop music is much more suitable to their tastes. The lyrics to Pop songs are also much cleaner and friendlier to children and many adults since the curse words or harsh language that can be found in 99% of Rap music is not found in Pop music. That is among the reasons why Pop singers Hilary Duff and JoJo have become music idols to younger kids who love listening to Pop songs as well as downloading Pop music to their MP3 players, Zunes and iPods.

After many years of losing court room battles, their problem remains the same as the Internet goes on as usual. Music lovers want to go to unlimited free music downloads sites and share music files, and one way or another they will be able to do this. Several countries have already stated that free music downloads sites and sharing music files is legal. In 2006, a Spanish judge ruled that free music downloads are legal. The Spanish court ruled that there is nothing illegal about downloading music or other files for free from the Internet as long as it is for personal use. In 2007, after the Spanish ruling and others like it, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) decided to walk away from DRM (digital rights management). Music label giants Universal, EMI, and Warner Music Group all agreed to accept DRM-free digital format, leaving only Sony BMG to fight the losing battle. If you want to keep your Unlimited Free Music Downloads legal, make sure you free music downloads are for your personal use. Don’t leave them in your “Shared” computer directory, move them to a directory that only you can access.

It seems that the western Iowa tourism region lines up almost exactly with the region where most of the music in Iowa is recorded. This area of the state is full of local talent and there are many in home recording studios here. The tourism board did a survey of the artists in the area and put out a pamphlet showing where tourists could go to see performances live along with where to go to learn more about the recording industry in Iowa. It seems many of the artists in the area were not aware of other artists there and with this new information many have gotten together to collaborate on different projects. Many have even started putting out duet CDs recorded in the basement studio. These CDs are starting to show up for sale in local establishments. As the sales for these increase so does the demand for the artists to perform an the local venues. This is spurring quite an increase in the appreciation of not only music, but all of the performing arts in the area. This place is getting to be the hot spot of the state to go to hear all kinds of music from country western to hip hop.

I received emails from both Nicole of the baking sheet and debbie of words to eat by this past week, “tagging” me for the food blogging meme, music to cook to. My first thought was “I don’t listen to a great deal of music…and I don’t know anything about music anymore”, and I passed the task along to S. and his extensive music tastes and knowledge. He diligently answered the questions and then sent his writing along to me.
I sat on that email for a few days, indulging myself in Sugar High Fridays (great job, Clement!) and making dinner for a good friend on Saturday night (recipes to come later). I thought about it more and more and realized that the questions, though slightly foreign to me (why, I don’t know, I did used to work in a record store for crying out loud!), were directed at the food blogger in the house. And, although I have tried to convince S. to start a food blog himself he has yet to do that…and having him answer the questions for me was taking the easy way out.
So I redid them myself. Try not to be disappointed

Right now there are thousands if not millions of computers — maybe even yours — sharing personal documents with the world without the owner of the computer realizing it. Maybe because your child or grandchild has installed the software without telling you, or because the software is set up to share the entire hard drive, or both.
This is the electronic equivalent to going to a public place with a box full of personal letters, photos, bank statements, and other private information, dumping it on the ground, and walking away. Except anyone in the world could see your files, not just your neighbors.
Aside from the risk of exposing personal information to strangers, file sharing risks also include the risk of downloading a virus or a backdoor program which allows people to take control of your computer remotely, and the problem of adware and spyware.
It’s important to learn the basic computer skills you need to keep yourself safe.

The following is a list of songs found in Rock Band, a music performance-based video game developed by a company named Harmonix. This list includes songs found on the game disc itself (”main setlist” and “bonus tracks”) apart from the downloadable songs available for purchase on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms. I own a Wii and have been having a blast with Guitar Hero III, but I think Rock Band would be even more fun since up to four can join in on the jam session. Vocals included.
The game let’s the non-musically inclined (as well as those who are) experience what it’s like to play in a real band by utilizing well designed peripherals that simulate playing a real instrument. It’s a fantastic experience, in no small part due to how the individual instruments sound when they are played correctly or incorrectly. It takes some practice, but instead of the years of dedication required to master a real instrument, you can get up to speed in a couple days.
It feels great to hit the notes perfectly in succession while the crowd screams – even if it is just a game.
Famous musicians and labels are beginning to embrace the concept wholeheartedly because it offers a new way to sell music. Even the poster-boys for everything anti-commercial, the Sex Pistols, re-recorded a track for Guitar Hero III, since the master tapes were lost years ago.
If you want to master Rock Band, listen to this playlist when you’re not actually playing the game and become intimate with every note that’s coming, you can listen when you are cooking or excercising too.

Even if you are a beginner these types of guitar stores can be good if you are thinking about playing and want to pick out an instrument that is used and less expensive rather than a new one which will cost more. Along this line one of the biggest guitar stores can be found on the Internet on sites such as eBay. You must be careful though as you can only see a picture of the item and not check it out first hand like at a pawn shop or regular guitar stores.
The Internet is the biggest retailer of guitars, but make sure you research thoroughly as you don’t have the option of a hands on demonstration or the ability to handle the guitar to see if it fits your style.
Guitar stores in both categories of new or second hand both have advantages. It all depends on what you are looking for, how much you want to pay for it, and the knowledge that you have or need in playing a guitar.

Put That Guitar Down!
Once in a while a musician needs to get some perspective and create a little distance, especially if there has been an onslaught of practicing. To really absorb the music, sometimes it is good to put the instrument down. For music to really breathe, so must the musician.
Track by Track - Revolver by the Beatles (1966)
1966's Revolver was perhaps The Beatles first fully realized album. While you could make an argument that A Hard Day's Night or Rubber Soul deserves that title, to me it seems like Revolver is their first album to be completely artistic statement. Rubber Soul had duds like "Wait" and "Run For Your Life" on it after all. This is a track by track look at Revolver.
