It’s time for music again: as every year, March is completely built around “Maerzmusik” - the international festival for new music.
It represents a part of the Berlin Festival and takes place in a central location, more specifically, in the house of Berlin Festival since 2002. However, this is by far not the place the programme is going to take place in.
The slogan for 2009 is “reduction-composition-deconstruction“.
What this means is that you can see the line-up of artists on the homepage of “Maerzmusik 2009”. The classic music festival contrasts artists from Russia to artists from America. You can also enjoy music from Armenia and Central Africa. Ambitious pupils also perform in the programme “Querklang” as young composers.
This year the eighth version of “Maerzmusik“ perform yet again because as well as the pupil’s composition there will also young American, Armenian, Asian and Russian artists.
The festival will take place from 20th to 29th of March 2009 and a visit would definitely be worth your while.
We strongly suggest you to book your Unterkunft Berlin as soon as possible, such as a Hotel or a Ferienwohnung in Berlin, so you can enjoy your stay as soon as you get there.
“Maerzmusik“ is said to be one of the most important festivals for new music in Germany. With more than 30 events you can look at key works from newer music’s history, as well as completely unknown plays and experienced performers of coeval music from all over the world.
This is a place to look forward to: the “Maerzmusik“ is a festival to listen to new music, as well as classics of the new music. You can watch first-time performances as well as see artist débuts, room orchestration and round tables for young or even young-thinking composers.
This is the best event for those who feel connected with modern music and who are open to new things.
As part of the opening, Les Percussions de Strasbourg will play their quadrinominal circle “Erewhon” from Hugues Dufourt with six drummers and 150 instruments. The second part of the festival includes mainly concerts with American music. So everybody will find something they like…
The easiest way to get tickets is through the “Maerzmusik 2009’s homepage, but you can buy them at the cash point in the house of Berlin Festival as well. Both options include discounts for a big group of people (pupils, students, OAPs, etc.…). Apart from this, there are 4 different price ranges that reach from 6€ up to 20€. For more information visit the homepage of “Maerzmusik” where you can also listen to some audio tests.

The President’s NCAA Tournament Bracket is in and he’s picking UNC to win it all. With the start of the tournament only a day away, President Obama made time to consult his cabinet as to who they believed would win it all this year. His Final Four has Louisville over Pittsburgh and UNC over Memphis. All are number 1 seeds except for Memphis which is a number 2.
Surprisingly enough, Obama doesn’t have many upsets and is mostly going with top seeded teams. Some might feel he would’ve gone with the underdog seeing as how in his own situation he was able to beat the favorite. But before you question his picks, you must understand the power of the president. He’s got a lot of insider connects, including his brother-in-law James Robinson coach of the Oregon State Beavers.
If your still unsure about what teams to pick and who might go all the way, check out the President’s picks, you can’t go wrong.

This past weekend saw the latest Ultimate Fighting Championship, UFC 96, subtitled “Rampage vs Jardine”. Depending on your affiliation, you were either pleased or angered that Rampage Jackson won the match thanks to judges’ decision, which brought him that much closer to an attempt to regain his Light Heavyweight Champion belt from the current belt-holder Rashad Evans. However, it’s now being said that Rampage will not be fighting after all, and the match will go to Lyoto Machida instead.
So, here’s the thing. After watching the Ultimate Fighter, Season 7, which featured Rampage and Forrest Griffin as the amateur coaches for that season’s hopefuls, I came to really enjoy watching Rampage do his thing. That’s an admiration for the guy’s personal style, not for his fighting prowess. Because frankly, watching Rampage fight is an uneven thing … sometimes he dominates, sometimes he kinda cruises along, but either way, you get the same tactics: a lot of punching, some ground-and-pound, and a killer body slam if you’re lucky. But now, having a personal stake in the guy, I want to see him get his belt back.
However, take a look at Rashad Evans. He’s strong, he’s fast, and he’s undefeated. He knows Rampages weaknesses — very little grappling, no leg kick defense — and he knows how to explot them. He took out Griffin, who took Rampage’s belt from him. As much as I want Rampage to win, I don’t think he will.
Lyoto Machida, on the other hand, is just as fierce as Rashad, has some crazy skills, and fans love him. I’d much rather see a match between those two from a purely fight fanboy standpoint. Who would you rather see victorious on May 23rd?

The new Winstar M4 USB networking server is another of those devices that converges technologies to offer convenient networking. What the Winstar server actually does is that it allows users to share one of the following USB computer peripherals over a wireless network - an external hard drive or flash drive or memory card reader, USB webcam, USB speaker, or USB Multi-Function Printer (MFP) from any machine on a Wi-Fi network.
It open up exciting possibilities for use even if there are only three PCs in a home environment. Wireless means less clutter and it does save space on individual hard drives.
The catch here is that the M4 has only one USB port so at a given time you can access only one peripheral on the network. For greater connectivity you will need a USB hub.
Plug the USB device to the Winstar M4 and connect the M4 to a wireless router with an Ethernet cable. That’s all you need to do! It works smoothly for a Windows Vista environment.
