You Can Record from CD to the Cheapest Mp3 Player

January 21st, 2010

For the longest time I used to record to cd’s using my Yamaha p85 digital piano. I had a stand alone cd player recorder or I would use recording software first to be able to edit. Then I would burn my cd’s and have fun listening in my boom box or car.

Then came along mp3 technology and I was a little slow in jumping over because the fidelity was better with my cd’s. Well that is no longer, these days even with the cheapest mp3 player, I am able to get fantastic fidelity when recording.

I still make cd recordings for situations where there is no mp3 player to listen on but most of the time I’m using mp3 technology for my music.

What I really love is the ability to stack the songs inside my mp3 unit instead of changing one cd at a time. So what I’m doing a lot now is converting my cd’s to mp3 files.

The good news is windows media player will do this with the latest version. You don’t even have to buy conversion software.

If you don’t want to use windows software then just google cd to mp3 conversion and you will find all kinds of software, free and paid.

Online Guitar Lessons: Learn At Your Own Pace

January 19th, 2010

Online guitar lessons are a great way to learn guitar. Cheaper and more convenient than private studio lessons, the technology is now at a point where the difference in quality is nonexistent and actually has many advantages.

Many guitar instructors are limited to a certain style. With the better online courses the styles and musical genres are practically unlimited. There is no boredom factor involved either. Many students quit guitar lessons if their teacher doesn’t know the songs, artists or type of music they like. The top courses cover all the bases. If you don’t like certain musical styles, don’t play them and go on to something else more interesting.

Online Electric Guitar Lessons Advantage

January 18th, 2010

Online guitar lessons are an increasingly popular choice among those wanting to learn to play the guitar. They offer enjoyable, easy to use multi-media content that it now easily accessible to more people, thanks to the proliferation of powerful computers and faster internet connections, and there are many other advantages to learning to play the guitar online (and some disadvantages too of course). Are online guitar lessons the best choice for you? This article looks at some of the pros and cons of downloadable guitar courses.

What Are Online Electric Guitar Lessons?

Firstly, exactly what do you get with an internet guitar course anyway? This varies a lot depending on which site you get your material from, but most online lessons will include most or all of the following:

* Written instruction, with diagrams and/or photos (frequently in the form of PDF ebooks)
Video lessons to show you exactly what to do
* Audio recordings to demonstrate how the music should sound. Some lessons also include audio tracks to jam along with
* Software designed to help you develop skills, such as reading music or accurate pitch recognition and other ear training

The way in which online training material is delivered varies too – some electric guitar online lessons are downloadable (this is preferable, especially if you don’t have a reliable internet connection), whereas others are accessed online via the teacher’s site.

My dream of becoming the musicians choice

January 14th, 2010

I used to have a dream of becoming a professional musician, or more like the world’s most famous guitar player, winning MTV and musician choice awards. Well, it didn’t actually turn out that way.

Going to a music school in my home town I soon learned that I was a terrible musician. I couldn’t play the guitar at all, and I know my classmates were making fun of me behind my back. That hurt my feelings, because I really wanted my dream to come true. But with most dreams you wake up, and so did I. Fortunately, I found a different passion, and that passion was for singing.

Singing was something that was a lot easier for me than playing the guitar, and I have no idea why. Perhaps it was because of the technical nature of playing the guitar, perhaps I have voice chords of gold. Anyhow, I soon became the sing star of high school and found myself in a studio with the latest music recording software. This turned out to be one of several times I recorded in a studio, however, this dream too came to an end when grown up life put its chains on me.

It’s strange how some people make it in life and thousands do not. Living out your dream really takes courage, discipline, and the strength to go against the herd. Herd mentality is one of the biggest enemies of all accomplishments, so if you want to make a difference in life it is usually a good sign that walking the complete opposite way as everyone else.

Looking back at the time in a music recording studio, playing concerts in front of large crowds, and simply having fun with my band mates, I really miss it. It sure beats a desk job. So don’t follow in my tracks, or the tracks of all the other failed musicians out there. Stick to your dream, and perhaps you will some day receive a musicians choice award of the highest ranking kind.

The Guitar Series - The Classical Guitar
Classical guitars are beautiful musical instruments with a long historical background. This instrument has its roots in the cithara, an Asian instrument popular about 5,000 years ago. Later, the Spanish vihuela evolved into an instrument with 6 double gut strings tuned like a classical guitar.

Guitar Shred Lesson - Sweep Triads
Have you ever caught yourself in awe and wander while listening to one of your favorite metal tunes of how a particular lick was pulled off? You immediately grab your guitar, setup your effects and amp, and plug in just as if you were getting ready to perform a show, in hopes of learning that riff. This riff wasn't a tapping technique, hammer on, or mere speed picking, all of which are impressive when smoothly executed (as I by no means belittle these techniques).
