It seems that the western Iowa tourism region lines up almost exactly with the region where most of the music in Iowa is recorded. This area of the state is full of local talent and there are many in home recording studios here. The tourism board did a survey of the artists in the area and put out a pamphlet showing where tourists could go to see performances live along with where to go to learn more about the recording industry in Iowa. It seems many of the artists in the area were not aware of other artists there and with this new information many have gotten together to collaborate on different projects. Legendary vocal powerhouse Ann Wilson of Heart fame is set to release her first solo album on September 11. That date, one we will all remember, was not picked accidentally.

Wilson’s new album is intended to send a message about the the current state of things and she shares a lot of her feelings about how things could be improved.

Only one track was written by Wilson herself with all the others being songs originally written and performed by others.

Joining her to record the album are other well-known artists such as Elton John and Alison Krauss and Wilson says she is honored and very grateful for their contributions.
