Believe me, I never thought I’d be buying country music DVDs and CDs, as I’ve never really been fond of that genre. But Swift’s tunes are more of a pop/country mix and are actually very catchy.
No wonder she has tens of thousands of so-called “crossover” fans! Her songs have a certain quality that appeal to all kinds of people, and have helped her become one of the top-selling artists of the year.
Anyway, after liking what I heard from Taylor Swift, I decided to try other artists in the genre.

It seems that the healing power of music, over body and spirit, is only just starting to be understood, even though music therapy is not new. For many years therapists have been advocating the use of music in both listening and study for the reduction of anxiety and stress, the relief of pain. And music has also been recommended as an aid for positive change in mood and emotional states.

Whenever we listened to rock and roll on the radio, he would come over and either turn it off or change it to a country western music station. Like most southern farmers, he hated rock and roll and he thought country western music was the only music worth listening to. While I was exposed to rock and roll through some of my best friends, as I got older I listened to country western music more often than not. I guess I held my father’s opinion of it. When I went to college, I began dating a young lady that listened to country western music all the time. She said she liked country western music for the stories the singers sang about.

There has never been a female country artist that had so much popularity for the short time she was with us than Patsy Cline. We only dream of having the quality voice she had and the way she could deliver a song. Her music is still very popular today and it will be so for a very long time. Maybe you are interested in learning some of her songs and if so we have some great lyrics on this web site, visit Patsy Cline lyrics with chords. Her music is really fun to do even if we don’t have the ability to sing them as she did.
As a young girl Patsy wanted to become a dancer and was quite good but it wasn’t long until music became her passion. She played piano by ear and never learned notes and seldom knew what key she sang in but she sounded terrific just the same. At the age of thirteen Patsy became very ill with rheumatic fever and developed a serious throat infection. The high fever affected her throat and after recovery she said her voice was much stronger and she loved belting a song like Kate Smith could do. Because of that she had more determination than ever to have a singing career.

We’re fortunate to have as many songs by Patsy as we do, a nine year career isn’t very long for a vocalist with extraordinary talent. However, the songs she recorded will always be with us and it’s a pleasure for us amateurs to sing and play her music.

I don’t know of many artists that could deliver a song like Jim Reeves as his voice was so smooth and mellow. He is hard to duplicate when it comes to a beautiful love song such as Am I Losing You. He has many great country classics that you will enjoy doing, just browse our Jim Reeves lyrics and chords , find some of your favorites and look for some you don’t know, it’s fun to learn new (old) songs.
RCA signed Jim to a recording contract in 1956 that started his short but lustrous career. He recorded a brief eleven years until his death in a 1964 plane crash. His music was so loved that it continued to chart into the 1980’s with several top 10 posthumous hits. Jim earned sixteen gold, silver and platinum albums in the 1960’s.

It’s not necessary to have a great voice or great musician skills to enjoy picking and singing. Most of us do in our homes so it doesn’t matter if we’re really good or really bad. I wasn’t blessed with vocal or picking skills, but that doesn’t stop me from doing it at home. The main thing is to enjoy your music in every way you can, playing and singing will make you feel better every time, try it!!

Johnny Cash was honored to be the youngest inductee into the Country Music Hall Of Fame at the age of 48. The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame also honored him in 1995 thus making him one of just a handful of country artists to be noted in both organizations.

Get your kids involved in music, it may become one of their passions and therefore just might keep them on the straight and narrow path, it’s difficult in these modern times. I realize most youngsters don’t particularly enjoy country, but most have never heard some these great songs. If they have a tendency to sing or play, most classic country songs are not that difficult, so if they can do it well, he/she might succumb to our music.

Even though country music may not have been your bag, you may make an exception in the case of Johnny Cash. There is something about the way that he used his voice to convey emotion and meaning in the lyrics that makes his work wonderful to hear. And he didn’t start out in country at all.
My interest in Johnny Cash music isn’t new at all. I have listened to his work since I was a kid and I have to admit that I really didn’t associate him with country music at all. There is something unique about his voice and style that seems to transcend categories. I can’t place him in any particular “type” of music. This may be the great appeal that Johnny Cash music has for me.

Bob Dylan’s Chronicle: Volume One explores the critical junctions in his life and career. Through Dylan’s eyes and open mind, we see Greenwich Village, circa 1961, when he first arrives in Manhattan. Dylan’s New York is a magical city of possibilities — smoky, nightlong parties; literary awakenings; transient loves and unbreakable friendships. Elegiac observations are punctuated by jabs of memories, penetrating and tough. With side trips to New Orleans, Woodstock, Minnesota and points west, Chronicles: Volume One is an intimate and intensely personal recollection of extraordinary times.
Revealing, poetical, passionate and witty, Chronicles: Volume One is a mesmerizing window on Bob Dylan’s thoughts and influences.

The first Johnny Cash poster that I ever had was in college. It actually belonged to my roommate in my freshman year dorm room. He was the one to get me into Johnny Cash songs in the first place. At the time, I had the popular opinion that all country music was just there for ignorant rednecks and hicks, and so was shocked by the Johnny Cash posters on the wall, but boy did he show me how wrong I was. We would stay up all night listening to Johnny Cash music, and talking about, well, just about anything and everything that there was out there to talk about.
