Master Rock Band
The following is a list of songs found in Rock Band, a music performance-based video game developed by a company named Harmonix. This list includes songs found on the game disc itself (”main setlist” and “bonus tracks”) apart from the downloadable songs available for purchase on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms. I own a Wii and have been having a blast with Guitar Hero III, but I think Rock Band would be even more fun since up to four can join in on the jam session. Vocals included.
The game let’s the non-musically inclined (as well as those who are) experience what it’s like to play in a real band by utilizing well designed peripherals that simulate playing a real instrument. It’s a fantastic experience, in no small part due to how the individual instruments sound when they are played correctly or incorrectly. It takes some practice, but instead of the years of dedication required to master a real instrument, you can get up to speed in a couple days.
It feels great to hit the notes perfectly in succession while the crowd screams – even if it is just a game.
Famous musicians and labels are beginning to embrace the concept wholeheartedly because it offers a new way to sell music. Even the poster-boys for everything anti-commercial, the Sex Pistols, re-recorded a track for Guitar Hero III, since the master tapes were lost years ago.
If you want to master Rock Band, listen to this playlist when you’re not actually playing the game and become intimate with every note that’s coming, you can listen when you are cooking or excercising too.
