It is believed that gospel music refers to the religious music created by the African-American churches during the 1930s. Similarly, it also refers to both this black gospel music as well as pious music composed and sung by white southern Christian artists. Neither of these two styles has been clearly defined; hence, sometimes an artist from one branch of gospel music sings the songs of the other branch.

Certainly, not all Christian music or Christian song makes good church music. As far as church singing goes, a great deal of the time and tradition has gone into it. Nevertheless, there is nothing that beats a resonant choir of voices signing choruses of hallelujah up to the highest heavens. On the other hand, there are some churches that use contemporary Christian music to good effect. Churches with a strong youth services program works in this way. It has been proven many times that, through their music is the best way to reach out to kids. Trust me in this! There is nothing inherently wrong with rock ‘n roll, or even rap if the lyrics are of good spirit and if it suits the tastes of our younger generation. In the end, it’s all about reaching out to folks in hopes of making new believers of them.

There has never been a female country artist that had so much popularity for the short time she was with us than Patsy Cline. We only dream of having the quality voice she had and the way she could deliver a song. Her music is still very popular today and it will be so for a very long time. Maybe you are interested in learning some of her songs and if so we have some great lyrics on this web site, visit Patsy Cline lyrics with chords. Her music is really fun to do even if we don’t have the ability to sing them as she did.
As a young girl Patsy wanted to become a dancer and was quite good but it wasn’t long until music became her passion. She played piano by ear and never learned notes and seldom knew what key she sang in but she sounded terrific just the same. At the age of thirteen Patsy became very ill with rheumatic fever and developed a serious throat infection. The high fever affected her throat and after recovery she said her voice was much stronger and she loved belting a song like Kate Smith could do. Because of that she had more determination than ever to have a singing career.

We’re fortunate to have as many songs by Patsy as we do, a nine year career isn’t very long for a vocalist with extraordinary talent. However, the songs she recorded will always be with us and it’s a pleasure for us amateurs to sing and play her music.

I don’t know of many artists that could deliver a song like Jim Reeves as his voice was so smooth and mellow. He is hard to duplicate when it comes to a beautiful love song such as Am I Losing You. He has many great country classics that you will enjoy doing, just browse our Jim Reeves lyrics and chords , find some of your favorites and look for some you don’t know, it’s fun to learn new (old) songs.
RCA signed Jim to a recording contract in 1956 that started his short but lustrous career. He recorded a brief eleven years until his death in a 1964 plane crash. His music was so loved that it continued to chart into the 1980’s with several top 10 posthumous hits. Jim earned sixteen gold, silver and platinum albums in the 1960’s.

It’s not necessary to have a great voice or great musician skills to enjoy picking and singing. Most of us do in our homes so it doesn’t matter if we’re really good or really bad. I wasn’t blessed with vocal or picking skills, but that doesn’t stop me from doing it at home. The main thing is to enjoy your music in every way you can, playing and singing will make you feel better every time, try it!!
