Because music is the best!

Lester Young

November 8th, 2008

Lester Young was one of the true giants of jazz, a tenor saxophonist, who had a different approach in which to play his horn, floating over bar lines with a light tone rather than adopting Coleman Hawkins’ then-dominant forceful approach. As non-conformist, Young (nicknamed “Prez” by Billie Holiday) had the ironic experience in the 1950s of hearing many young tenors try to emulate him.

He spent his early days near New Orleans, Louisiana. Lester Young lived in Minneapolis by 1920 and was playing in a legendary family band. He studied violin, trumpet, and drums, starting on alto saxophone at age 13. Because he refused to tour in the South, Young left home in 1927 and instead toured with Art Bronson’s Bostonians. He switched to tenor saxophone.

Jailhouse Rock - The Most Memorable Elvis Presley Movie Rental

May 22nd, 2008

Jailhouse Rock is the first Elvis Presley movie rental I watched. I heard rumors, but I had to see for myself! Elvis goes to jail! If you want a look into the past at the raw Elvis during his early years, with the pencil pants then rent Jailhouse Rock. This will definitely give you a good look at “The King” during the earliest stages of his entertaining ability and lady-killer, good looks. Elvis plays a young man named Vince Everett, who winds up in prison after accidentally killing another man in a fight. With a lot of spare time and a little help from his cellmate, Vince (Elvis) learns to sing and play the guitar. After he is released from prison, Vince decides to take advantage of his new-found talents and persue the life of a professional singer and entertainer. This is the film with that famous “Jailhouse Rock” and “You’re So Square” musical performances that are used a lot in commercials. You can’t help but fall in love with the songs in this movie and with Elvis, of course, along with “The King’s” beautiful co-star.

Hound Dog - Is It The Best Of Elvis Presley Greatest Hits Or Most Controversial?

May 22nd, 2008
One of the Elvis Presley greatest hits that became very popular even before it was formally recorded was a song named Hound Dog. “Hound Dog” was actually on the flip side of what many considered Elvis Presley’s greatest hit and most successful single “Don’t Be Cruel”, with both sides spending 11 weeks at the top of the charts. Elvis Presley became controversial over the gyrating hip movements he did while singing “Hound Dog” during appearances on several different shows. Those gyrating hip movements would become his trademark even though they initially caused such a firestorm of controversy.

Patsy Cline lyrics with chords

October 28th, 2007

There has never been a female country artist that had so much popularity for the short time she was with us than Patsy Cline. We only dream of having the quality voice she had and the way she could deliver a song. Her music is still very popular today and it will be so for a very long time. Maybe you are interested in learning some of her songs and if so we have some great lyrics on this web site, visit Patsy Cline lyrics with chords. Her music is really fun to do even if we don’t have the ability to sing them as she did.

As a young girl Patsy wanted to become a dancer and was quite good but it wasn’t long until music became her passion. She played piano by ear and never learned notes and seldom knew what key she sang in but she sounded terrific just the same. At the age of thirteen Patsy became very ill with rheumatic fever and developed a serious throat infection. The high fever affected her throat and after recovery she said her voice was much stronger and she loved belting a song like Kate Smith could do. Because of that she had more determination than ever to have a singing career.

These country classic song lyrics are the property of the respective artist, authors and labels, they are intended solely for educational purposes and private study only. The chords provided are my interpretation and their accuracy is not guaranteed.

We’re fortunate to have as many songs by Patsy as we do, a nine year career isn’t very long for a vocalist with extraordinary talent. However, the songs she recorded will always be with us and it’s a pleasure for us amateurs to sing and play her music.

Jim Reeves lyrics and chords

October 27th, 2007

I don’t know of many artists that could deliver a song like Jim Reeves as his voice was so smooth and mellow. He is hard to duplicate when it comes to a beautiful love song such as Am I Losing You. He has many great country classics that you will enjoy doing, just browse our Jim Reeves lyrics and chords , find some of your favorites and look for some you don’t know, it’s fun to learn new (old) songs.

RCA signed Jim to a recording contract in 1956 that started his short but lustrous career. He recorded a brief eleven years until his death in a 1964 plane crash. His music was so loved that it continued to chart into the 1980’s with several top 10 posthumous hits. Jim earned sixteen gold, silver and platinum albums in the 1960’s.

These country classic song lyrics are the property of the respective artist, authors and labels, they are intended solely for educational purposes and private study only. The chords provided are my interpretation and their accuracy is not guaranteed.

It’s not necessary to have a great voice or great musician skills to enjoy picking and singing. Most of us do in our homes so it doesn’t matter if we’re really good or really bad. I wasn’t blessed with vocal or picking skills, but that doesn’t stop me from doing it at home. The main thing is to enjoy your music in every way you can, playing and singing will make you feel better every time, try it!!

October 27th, 2007

Browse these Johnny Cash chords and lyrics to see of your favorites are there. We add lyrics to the on a daily basics, so bookmark us and check with us often.

Johnny Cash was honored to be the youngest inductee into the Country Music Hall Of Fame at the age of 48. The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame also honored him in 1995 thus making him one of just a handful of country artists to be noted in both organizations.

These country classic song lyrics are the property of the respective artist, authors and labels, they are intended solely for educational purposes and private study only. The chords provided are my interpretation and their accuracy is not guaranteed.

Get your kids involved in music, it may become one of their passions and therefore just might keep them on the straight and narrow path, it’s difficult in these modern times. I realize most youngsters don’t particularly enjoy country, but most have never heard some these great songs. If they have a tendency to sing or play, most classic country songs are not that difficult, so if they can do it well, he/she might succumb to our music.

May 31st, 2007
For decades musician Billy Joel has made rock and roll hit after rock and roll hit but has not produced an album/CD since 1993. Billy Joel’s fans are eagerly awaiting his next album/CD and can only  wait and wonder. Not many solo artists have had as much success as Billy Joel, with hits in the 1970s, 80s and 90s. A new Billy Joel album release was always an event. He is the sixth best selling artist in the US and has won a Grammy award six times. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. Vinyl Records Take Us Back In Time

March 14th, 2007

Back when I was a child, vinyl records were the method used by diehard music lovers to listen to their favorite songs. Eight tracks were going out of style really quickly and the newest trend was the cassette tape. Even with the passing of the eight tracks and the emergence of the cassette tape, many music lovers stuck to the traditional vinyl records for their listening pleasure.

More on Johnny Cash Music

March 3rd, 2007

Even though country music may not have been your bag, you may make an exception in the case of Johnny Cash. There is something about the way that he used his voice to convey emotion and meaning in the lyrics that makes his work wonderful to hear. And he didn’t start out in country at all.

My interest in Johnny Cash music isn’t new at all. I have listened to his work since I was a kid and I have to admit that I really didn’t associate him with country music at all. There is something unique about his voice and style that seems to transcend categories. I can’t place him in any particular “type” of music. This may be the great appeal that Johnny Cash music has for me.

All My Love To Patti Page

February 23rd, 2007

Before rock and roll burst onto the scene, pop music was more sedate and one of its leading exponents was Patti Page. She began as a country music singer and crossed over into pop, with country-tinged records that were very popular with the public. Page was born into a poor, farming family in 1927 in Claremore, Oklahoma. Her vocal talent and good looks were to carry her away into stardom. She was Clara Ann Fowler before she assumed her stage name.
