When I was a teenager, it required a great deal to remove me away from watching MTV music videos. I adored music, and I couldn’t get enough of the flashy videos and the larger than life musicians that populated them. As time proceeded though, it became increasingly more obvious that though the M in MTV stood for music, it wasn’t really their primary emphasis. I haven’t thought a lot about MTV music videos in a quite a while, but I have begun to consider it again. My daughter is getting older and even though I despise the thought of it, I know she’s going to grow out of groups like the Wiggles quickly enough, and she will probably be listening to music that is manufactured for teens. What frightens me is that I can’t find any MTV music videos that I would would like her watching. I suppose you could call me over protective, but I think kids are maturing way too quickly, and I want her to savor the freedom of childhood for as long as she can before she is mindful of things such as sex and attempting to act and look more mature.

The content of most of the MTV music videos makes my skin creep. Women have come a long way in the past decades, yet you would never know it by viewing a few of these videos. Self respect appears to have flown out the window, but to be fair, this has been the situation with most of the MTV music videos which have come and gone before. I reckon that it simply appears to be getting even worse, and the depravity appears to have become more serious. I don’t want her identifying with these women. I understand I can not keep her from viewing it eternally, but I really hope I’m able to hold her off long enough to point out to her how a real woman should live. On 21st February 2009 the German music award, the Echo, will take place at O2 World in Berlin for the 18th time. Since 1992 the award has been given for 24 categories every year.
As usual, this year there will be a lot of national and international celebrities from the music industry. U2 are going to present their new song “Get on your boots” live! It’s not that difficult once you apply yourself to the task and really, everything is just common sense. It’s just that you haven’t had to consider it before!

Firstly, time and timing is very important.

Treble check the date of the concert so that there’s no confusion there. (It has happened) Then make sure that any publicity is printed and ready to be displayed in plenty of time. This allows for hold-ups at printers, weekends, bank holidays etc.

You want a good return on ticket sales so don’t leave publicising the event till the last minute. Things like” book now to avoid disappointment” and “when they’re gone they’re gone” are good stock phrases to use.

The design of any posters, flyers or leaflets that you create is vitally important. They have to meet the A.I.D.A criteria. Not sure what that is?

I=interest
D=desire
A=action

Basically, the design needs to be good enough/bright enough/unusual enough to attract everyone’s attention. But especially the attention of your target audience.

Last weekend my son came home for a visit from college. He asked if I would help him with a project for one of his classes. For one of his general education courses he needed to take a class in music appreciation.
