Guitar Strings

February 5th, 2010

When I finally found the perfect set of acoustic guitar strings, I was absolutely overjoyed. They were made by a local manufacturer who hand wound them. Hand wound guitar strings are a little bit expensive, but if you find really good ones they are more than worth it. Unfortunately, he doesn’t make the strings anymore, but fortunately I stockpiled enough for several years to come. I practice using Martin strings still, but I have my special strings waiting in a case for shows. By saving them and using them sparingly, I should be able to make them last for as long as I \need them. By that point, maybe I will have bought a better guitar.

Online Guitar Lessons: Learn At Your Own Pace

January 19th, 2010

Online guitar lessons are a great way to learn guitar. Cheaper and more convenient than private studio lessons, the technology is now at a point where the difference in quality is nonexistent and actually has many advantages.

Many guitar instructors are limited to a certain style. With the better online courses the styles and musical genres are practically unlimited. There is no boredom factor involved either. Many students quit guitar lessons if their teacher doesn’t know the songs, artists or type of music they like. The top courses cover all the bases. If you don’t like certain musical styles, don’t play them and go on to something else more interesting.

Online Electric Guitar Lessons Advantage

January 18th, 2010

Online guitar lessons are an increasingly popular choice among those wanting to learn to play the guitar. They offer enjoyable, easy to use multi-media content that it now easily accessible to more people, thanks to the proliferation of powerful computers and faster internet connections, and there are many other advantages to learning to play the guitar online (and some disadvantages too of course). Are online guitar lessons the best choice for you? This article looks at some of the pros and cons of downloadable guitar courses.

What Are Online Electric Guitar Lessons?

Firstly, exactly what do you get with an internet guitar course anyway? This varies a lot depending on which site you get your material from, but most online lessons will include most or all of the following:

* Written instruction, with diagrams and/or photos (frequently in the form of PDF ebooks)
Video lessons to show you exactly what to do
* Audio recordings to demonstrate how the music should sound. Some lessons also include audio tracks to jam along with
* Software designed to help you develop skills, such as reading music or accurate pitch recognition and other ear training

The way in which online training material is delivered varies too – some electric guitar online lessons are downloadable (this is preferable, especially if you don’t have a reliable internet connection), whereas others are accessed online via the teacher’s site.

Famous Classical Music Artists

November 23rd, 2009

Some of the most famous classical music comes from the most famous composers, naturally. The likes of Ludwig von Beethoven and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart come to mind, as does Peter Illych Tchaikovsky. All three of those men were nearly unmatchable geniuses who were able to use sound to create entire worlds which we could explore.

Ever think what makes famous classical music the best medicine for sleeplessness. Famous classical music takes you away from the stresses of the waking world and allows you to lay your head on your pillow and feel the tension melt away.

Choosing Guitar Straps

October 1st, 2009

There are some guitar players that will play their instrument very low. This means that they stand when they play, and the instrument is slung lower than you see with most other players. This is often due to the fact that they have very long arms, or this is the way that they learned. Most learn in a particular position, and that is what they stick with for the most part. If someone you know plays like that, you are going to have to be sure the guitar straps that you buy are long enough to be useful. Most straps for guitars and basses are adjustable, but some are shorter than others.

If you are a beginning guitar player, you may start out with a new and rather inexpensive model of guitar. That is how most start because they don’t have a lot of money, and they know there is a chance they won’t take the hobby too far. If they were to spend a lot on the guitar, they would be out all of that money. They may be able to resell, but they won’t get what they paid in many cases. However, those that have been playing for years and love it will be more willing to lay down some money to get what they want. Most will have a yen for vintage guitars at one point or another, but they do have to know what to look for in one.

Learning Guitar Chords

July 4th, 2009

Some believe that if children learn to play a musical instrument, they are going to do better in school, especially in math. Because so many struggle with math, many schools fight to keep their music programs alive. You may be offered the traditional instruments like saxophone, clarinet, or trumpet in school, but some think that playing the electric guitar is more along the lines of what they would like to do. This can be a fun instrument, but you will never be very good at it until you learn the major guitar chords as a starting point.
