First, the instrument has to feel good. It needs to be comfortable in the hands, with the right size and shape to allow for natural handling. Since cheap electric guitars come in a variety of sizes and styles, actually play a few to determine which ones are most comfortable. This allows you to narrow the search to a couple of manufacturers (not a small thing, with so many to choose from!) and a handful of styles.

BB King
has been playing guitar blues for over 60 years and is one of the standards that people use when they talk about guitar blues players. He has recorded with such great bands as U2 and is best known for his trademark hollow body electric guitar he calls Lucille. He was originally called the Beale Street Blues Boy but before his first record came out the record company shortened it to BB and used his real last name of King to create the name BB King. In over 60 years BB King has played his smooth style of blues all over the world.

In the 1920’s and 1930’s, blues guitar players
like Blind Lemon Jefferson, Son House, Robert Johnson, and Lonnie Johnson were the influential performers of the day. They used a slide which was often made out of a knife blade or the broken or sawed off neck from a bottle. Most of the music was improvised, and unaccompanied. The form of the songs were loose, and were rarely, if ever, played the same way twice.

The best way to learn electric guitar fast by studying the techniques involved making your overall playing ability ‘faster’ through Memorization, Observation and Strength Training. Memorization - If you’re a beginner, then memorizing your fretboard is the place to start. This will make it easier for you to memorize chords and scale patterns, as well as understand the relationship between them in music theory. Observation - Memorization is the foundation for observation, and observation is the key to training your mind and hands to work in concert automatically. Strength Training - Beginners should focus on strength building exercises and on performing those exercises perfectly. If you’re given an exercise that requires you to hit a note with your pinky, but you decide to ‘cheat’ by using your ring finger, know that your playing will hit a wall down the line.
In conclusion, the key to learning how to play electric guitar faster rests in following the M.O.S.T. formula. It really is all about getting the basics right from the start!

Like anything that requires a learning curve, the guitar requires discipline and an endless resource of enthusiasm. But people can all too easily fall into a defeatist attitude when they hit hurdles. There are the two roles the guitar plays in bluegrass and old-time music: rhythm and lead. The most important role of the guitar in bluegrass and old-time music is that of a rhythm instrument. In fact in the early days of bluegrass, the guitarist in the band never took a lead break. Now lead guitar breaks are common, but consider this: If you were playing guitar in a five piece bluegrass band, and in every instrumental song, each instrument took a lead break–you’d be playing rhythm guitar 80% of the time and lead guitar only 20% of the time. For vocals you would be playing lead even less.

Classical and acoustic guitars are normally used by one man or in accompaniment of other guitars. This is because, unlike electric guitars, classical and acoustic guitars are not loud instruments and they will not be able to compete with other instruments such as percussion and wind instruments. Acoustic guitars today, though, may have built-in electronics to allow amplification of the sound.

Taylor Guitars got its official start in 1974 with its founders, Bob Taylor and Kurt Listug. However, the story begins much earlier than that in the 60s when popular music spurred by the Beatles got a lot of people itching to play the guitar. The founders were young then, but they started their love of the guitar at around this time.

The difference between acoustic and electric guitar is simply amplification. An electric one needs an amplifier, but they are much easier to play. The electric instrument will cost more because you will have to purchase a good amp, and they both cost quite a bit of money. The acoustic instrument is more limited in shape and size because both shape and size make a difference on the sound that comes from the guitar.

When I finally found the perfect set of acoustic strings, I was absolutely overjoyed. They were made by a local manufacturer who hand wound them. Hand wound guitar strings are a little bit expensive, but if you find really good ones they are more than worth it. Unfortunately, he doesn’t make the strings anymore, but fortunately I stockpiled enough for several years to come. I practice using Martin strings still, but I have my special strings waiting in a case for shows. By saving them and using them sparingly, I should be able to make them last for as long as I \need them. By that point, maybe I will have bought a better guitar.

Having an individual style ensures rock icon status, making guitar music instantly recognizable as the work of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Brian May of Queen or Dave Gilmour of Pink Floyd. Their personal style is as unique as a fingerprint and their technique has been honed to perfection. Some guitarists are flamboyant on stage, such as Hendrix who played with his teeth sometimes and set his guitar on fire. Pete Townsend of The Who was prone to smashing his guitars against the amplifier.

Even if you are a beginner these types of guitar stores can be good if you are thinking about playing and want to pick out an instrument that is used and less expensive rather than a new one which will cost more. Along this line one of the biggest guitar stores can be found on the Internet on sites such as eBay. You must be careful though as you can only see a picture of the item and not check it out first hand like at a pawn shop or regular guitar stores.
The Internet is the biggest retailer of guitars, but make sure you research thoroughly as you don’t have the option of a hands on demonstration or the ability to handle the guitar to see if it fits your style.
Guitar stores in both categories of new or second hand both have advantages. It all depends on what you are looking for, how much you want to pay for it, and the knowledge that you have or need in playing a guitar.
