How to choose a Cheap Electric Guitar

June 26th, 2008

First, the instrument has to feel good. It needs to be comfortable in the hands, with the right size and shape to allow for natural handling. Since cheap electric guitars come in a variety of sizes and styles, actually play a few to determine which ones are most comfortable. This allows you to narrow the search to a couple of manufacturers (not a small thing, with so many to choose from!) and a handful of styles.

Tuning of Musical Gear

May 7th, 2008

The question that comes to the mind is why do we need tuning of musical gear? Tuning is a process through which certain pitches are built up in relation with each other. The matching is done in tandem. For certain times they cross each other and at other times they complement the other one, at periodic intervals. When a pitch is too high or near too inaudible with respect to the others, we call it out of tune.

Classical and Acoustic Guitars

May 7th, 2008

Classical and acoustic guitars are normally used by one man or in accompaniment of other guitars. This is because, unlike electric guitars, classical and acoustic guitars are not loud instruments and they will not be able to compete with other instruments such as percussion and wind instruments. Acoustic guitars today, though, may have built-in electronics to allow amplification of the sound.

Difference Between Acoustic and Electric Guitars

May 7th, 2008

The difference between acoustic and electric guitar is simply amplification. An electric one needs an amplifier, but they are much easier to play. The electric instrument will cost more because you will have to purchase a good amp, and they both cost quite a bit of money. The acoustic instrument is more limited in shape and size because both shape and size make a difference on the sound that comes from the guitar.

Getting To Grips With Classical Guitar

April 13th, 2008

This music has been around for multiple generations. That’s great news if you’re looking for sheet music. After a certain number of years have passed from the original composer’s death, music becomes public domain and is no longer protected by copyright. That means you can probably find a lot of classical guitar music for free. While many companies will still try and charge you for complicated pieces, keep searching and you find your favorite classical guitar music theme for quick print or download. Along with sheet music there are also MP3’s and Midi files available to listen to so you can get the feel of the music as well as the notes.

Learning any instrument regardless of what it is has mainly to do with good practice. If you’re looking for a new hobby or even a new profession, consider classical guitar. You have plenty of help available online and it might not even cost you a dime to get started. Besides buying a classical guitar, that is!

The Best Guitar Strings Around

March 30th, 2008

When I finally found the perfect set of acoustic strings, I was absolutely overjoyed. They were made by a local manufacturer who hand wound them. Hand wound guitar strings are a little bit expensive, but if you find really good ones they are more than worth it. Unfortunately, he doesn’t make the strings anymore, but fortunately I stockpiled enough for several years to come. I practice using Martin strings still, but I have my special strings waiting in a case for shows. By saving them and using them sparingly, I should be able to make them last for as long as I \need them. By that point, maybe I will have bought a better guitar.

Guitar Stores For Your Music Needs

February 12th, 2008

Even if you are a beginner these types of guitar stores can be good if you are thinking about playing and want to pick out an instrument that is used and less expensive rather than a new one which will cost more. Along this line one of the biggest guitar stores can be found on the Internet on sites such as eBay. You must be careful though as you can only see a picture of the item and not check it out first hand like at a pawn shop or regular guitar stores.

The Internet is the biggest retailer of guitars, but make sure you research thoroughly as you don’t have the option of a hands on demonstration or the ability to handle the guitar to see if it fits your style.

Guitar stores in both categories of new or second hand both have advantages. It all depends on what you are looking for, how much you want to pay for it, and the knowledge that you have or need in playing a guitar.

Learn How To Play The Guitar - Scales

January 4th, 2008
The sound or music that comes out of the guitar is based on the modern or western scale of twelve tones. The letters A to G symbolize the scales which helps in making them easy to remember. And with the guitar like all of the other musical instruments, you also have the “flat”, the “sharp” and the “natural.” The tones are read as A, A#, B, B#, C, C#, etc. In your quest to learn how to play the guitar you will discover that music is remarkably similar to math; for every sound wave that travels in the air there is an equivalent sound. Breedlove Atlas Series - AC25/SM Review
Breedlove's Atlas Series concert body guitars are unlike any other on the market - pinless bridges, JLD bridge truss system, scalloped bracing. These aspects of Breedlove technology lead to a more resonant concert body guitar that favorably compares to much more expensive models. The Breedlove AC25/SM model is built with a solid sitka spruce top along with a solid mahogany back, to produce a versatile guitar that would work well for many different playing styles, although it works particularly well for fingerstyle, fingerpicking, light strumming, and slide playing, which results in clear yet "whiny" notes.
