October 6th, 2011

With the internet and world wide web it’s never been easier than it is today to buy music downloads. Some of the best sources and web sites to buy music downloads include but not limited; Apple iTunes Store, Amazon MP3, Napster, eMusic, Rhapsody, Spotify, 7digital and so many more music download sites to choose. And although these music downloads are all great, in my personal opinion, the best place to buy music downloads is Amazon MP3.

Amazon MP3 has such a great selection of music downloads to choose from. From rock music downloads, to pop music downloads, to rap music downloads, to country music downloads, to jazz music downloads, to classical music downloads and so many more music genres to choose from!

Alternative Rock Is Now Mainsteam Today

October 25th, 2010

Alternative music has changed a lot from the 90s when alt rock became all the rage around the world. Bands such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, U2, Green Day, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Jane’s Addiction, Radiohead, and many others blasted their way into the public consciousness and made alternative rock what it is today. Today’s alternative artists are different in may ways but also essentially the same.

What is alternative rock? Alternative rock is now so mainstream that to even continue to call it “alternative” is a misnomer. Alternative rock replaced the Arena Rock bands of the 70s and 80s like Guns ‘N Roses, Cheap Trick, Def Leppard, Poison, and other big hair bands. Alternative rock was more about the lyrics and the melody and not so much about pounding, driving beats and anthems. Many young people rebelled against the corporate arena rock titan bands that ruled the airwaves and wanted to hear more introspective songs that mirrored more closely their own real lives. Identifying with the lyrics and zoning out on the melodies was what these kids wanted and in fact, alternative artists began to appeal to all ages in a way that arena rock never did.

Today’s alternative artists include such stars as John Mayer with his bluesy guitar riffs and sexy voice. Mayer’s style came from listening to other artists like Chris Isaak, though he would probably never admit it. Jack Johnson is in the same basic vein, albeit with a more tropical twist. These guys owe a lot of their success to artists such as Joe Jackson, Boz Scaggs, and Van Morrison.

None of the alternative artists owes as much to Van Morrison as the Counting Crows. The Counting Crows from Berkeley, California first exploded onto the alternative rock music scene with their album “August and Everything After” which was produced by the great T-Bone Burnett. The hit song “Mr. Jones” is still a fan favorite around the globe and can be heard on radio stations and nightclubs everywhere.

Some of the great alternative artists of today are bands like Kaiser Chief, who had breakaway alt hits with songs such as “Ruby” and “Everyday I Love You Less and Less”. The Bravery is in the same vein, though they hail from the East Coast and not from England like the Kaiser Chiefs. The Bravery’s huge hits include “Believe” and “Time Won’t Let Me Go”. Another great alternative band that is rocking today is Interpol. Their brand of non-conformist rock is getting more and more airplay. Deathcab for Cutie is another of today’s awesome alternative artists that are just coming into their own with songs like “Soul Meets Body” and “I Will Follow You Into the Dark”. The Killers have taken alternative charts by storm since they first came out with “Mr. Brightside” and are still going strong. Franz Ferdinand scored big among alternative artists with their monster hit “Take Me Out”. Modest Mouse is one of the newer American bands still coming up in the alternative rankings.

All in all, this is a great time for alternative artists and rock music in general. We are lucky to be able to listen to these fantastic musicians on a daily basis. MP3 Players – Many Capable Underdogs vs. the 800-lb. Gorilla

September 6th, 2010

Anyone lover of gadgets and portable electronics knows what an Ipod is – and in fact, many people who have no interest in personal electronics know exactly what they are. With over 21 million units shipped, and over 75 per cent of the personal Digital Audio Player (DAP) market worldwide, it’s no surprise – Apple Computer Inc. has become the 800-lb. gorilla of portable music players.

What most people don’t know is the variety of alternatives to the Ipod – devices or media players which can play music, videos, and more, and which accept Secure Digital (SD) cards, Compact Flash, and Memory Sticks, and replaceable (or rechargeable) AAA batteries, often for a lower price than a comparable Ipod. The iRiver devices offered by South Korean manufacturer Reigncom range from small players intended to hang on a keychain or as wearable jewelry style devices to full-fledged hard-drive based units pointed squarely at the Ipod’s market.

SanDisk (a maker of Secure Digital flash memory) offers the Sansa series of MP3 players, with the distinction of being able to accept the same SD cards as many digital cameras, offering additional storage options and the flexibility to swap music collections without long transfer times. Some of Samsung’s YP series of MP3 players offer a miniscule size, picture viewer and LCD monitor, all at a lower price than many competing units.

Although there are a variety of choices, one major reason for the Ipod’s dominance is the sheer irresistibility of its marketing. The unit is sleek and simple, stylized yet understated, much like the rest of Apple’s product offerings. For many Ipod owners, the device is a fashion accessory as much as a technological device – when walking down the street, the trademark white earbuds are clearly visible even from some distance.

So visible in fact that they have become an easy target for some muggers – but many Ipod owners would sooner risk robbery than trade in their favorite fusion of fashion accessory and music player. Many people find that a particular device simply suits their tastes better than all the rest, but in many cases, one device isn’t necessarily “better” than all of the others, only different and with more or fewer features. The selection of manufacturers and models presently available offers as wealth of choices for any portable audio lover, whether replacing an existing device or entering the world of digital audio for the first time.

Camerabag Is The Best iPhone App You Will Ever Buy (Seriously)

February 12th, 2009

Ok, all those out there with iPhones raise your hands. Ok: now all those without raise your wonky little black plasticy things. Now throw those away. Now get an iPhone.

If you use your iPhone camera as much as I do, you could probably spot an iPhone picture from a mile off… that same tightly hued rectangle thats oh-so-slightly out of focus. Not that its a bad thing, its still one of the better camera-on-a-phone’s on the market. But have you ever wanted to make the photo of your girlfriends shitty cat black and white, like an old Ansel Adams portrait? Or make it look like a polaroid?

When my friend bought a sports MP3 player, I thought she was crazy

December 11th, 2007

When my friend bought a sports MP3 player, I thought she was crazy. If there is anyone who is more accident prone than me, it is her. Although she is an outstanding athlete when she is not on the bench due to injury, those periods are rarer than with most people. She has had a broken arm, a broken leg, several broken fingers, and a fractured skull. The sport MP3 player seem like just one more thing that she could break.

December 10th, 2007
So, what’s the solution for the iPhone hack? In order to figure out how the iPhone can escape the clutches of the hackers, the folks at iPhone are doing their best and are working extra long hours in hopes of protecting their customers from the inevitable. Free iPhone Downloads and Free Zune Downloads Make Great Christmas Gifts

December 7th, 2007
There are times when you are absolutely squeezed for times or you might be one of those untalented people that can’t even make a bed never mind trying to make a Christmas gift for someone. If that’s the case then here is a can’t miss inexpensive Christmas gift that’s sure to be greatly appreciated. It’s a gift that keeps on giving. You won’t go wrong by purchasing your friend, family member or loved one a lifetime membership in either a free movie downloads site, a free mp3 music downloads site, a free games downloads site, a free Zune downloads site, a free iPhone downloads site or a free PSP downloads site.
Here is the best part. If you sign the person up for an unlimited free movie downloads site, not only will they be able to download free movies, but they will also be able to download free mp3 music, plus download free games, plus download free software and a lot more free stuff to download for a small one time membership fee. All of that from joining a free movie downloads site. If you join an unlimited free mp3 music downloads site or an unlimited free games downloads site you also get movies, music, games, software and more from each. The important thing to remember is a free movie downloads site is going to put more emphasis on movies, a free game downloads site is going to put more of an emphasis on games and a free music downloads site is going to put more emphasis on music.

Music sharing program

March 20th, 2007

We use a Macintosh computer for music sharing. The application we have come to rely on is called Acquisition. It’s a great, user-friendly music sharing program exclusive to the Macintosh platform. It allows you to download and upload concurrently, and provides helpful ratings to ensure that you are sharing with a reliable peer. Acquisition is highly compatible with ITunes. We have been able to organize and play hours of music for parties by collaborating between Acquisition and ITunes. The combined technology of these two programs is incredible and so easy to use, that even our kids have learned how to search and locate music of their choice.

Bob Dylan Chronicles Audio

January 29th, 2007

Bob Dylan’s Chronicle: Volume One explores the critical junctions in his life and career. Through Dylan’s eyes and open mind, we see Greenwich Village, circa 1961, when he first arrives in Manhattan. Dylan’s New York is a magical city of possibilities — smoky, nightlong parties; literary awakenings; transient loves and unbreakable friendships. Elegiac observations are punctuated by jabs of memories, penetrating and tough. With side trips to New Orleans, Woodstock, Minnesota and points west, Chronicles: Volume One is an intimate and intensely personal recollection of extraordinary times.

Revealing, poetical, passionate and witty, Chronicles: Volume One is a mesmerizing window on Bob Dylan’s thoughts and influences.
