I just found out that Britney Spears is recording another album. Can’t wait for it to come out! Hopefully she’s gotten over all of those problems I keep reading about. I read one Britney Spears biography and it sounds like the last couple of years have been pretty rough for her. But it looks like she’s moving on and working again. The new album is supposed to come out in December. I’m sure it will be just as good as all of her other ones and I’m glad to see her singing again.

Just as it is for every kind of popular government figure, fashion model or media and sports star, it has been no different for
Carmen Electra. The media world has taken a great deal of interest in Carmen Electra’s private life, especially the romantic part of it. Her romantic involvements include a brief romantic involvement with pop and rock star, Prince in 1994. From 1995 to 1998 she was involved with rap star, B-Real of Cypress Hill. From 1998 to 1999 she a much publicized marriage to NBA basketball bad boy, Dennis Rodman. Carmen would later have a very brief affair with Tommy Lee, who at the time was married to Carmen’s Baywatch co-star Pamela Anderson. In 2003, Carmen Electra would have her second marriage. This time it was to lead guitarist Dave Navarro, a former member of popular rock bands, Jane’s Addiction and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their marriage would end in divorce in 2007. Carmen Electra is presently engaged to Rob Patterson, the guitarist for heavy metal group KoRn. May it last forever!
Carmen Electra has had a very exciting life. I wonder if this is the life this beautiful fashion model, musician, TV show actress and host, Hollywood movie star, commercial spokes person, and overall entertainer dreamed about when she was younger?

My cousin Mary has been a great fan of Madonna. She has several CD’s of her favorite singer and actress. Also, she has seen Desperately Seeking Susan featuring Madonna seven times. She wanted to have an updated biography on Madonna. I told her that I knew some websites that had lots of information on Madonna. chickipedia.com is one popular website that had ample information on Madonna. Needless to say, my cousin was thrilled about this and thanked me for providing information on her favorite singer and actress.

The Beatles had a relatively short career by the standards of many of the bands of the era, many of which survive today. But in their decade of prominence their music followed an identifiable path that took in mainstream pop, psychedelia and some quite challenging arrangements. Analyzing sheet music of the Beatles reveals that even their early music, a blend of skiffle and rock ’n’ roll, was far removed from the three-chord compositions of many of their contemporaries. Once notable feature of Beatles music is the ease with which it translates to different styles.

Frank Sinatra, also affectionately also known as Old Blue Eyes was probably the most outstanding popular music singer of the 20th century. Sinatra’s only real rivals during those days were perhaps a handful of other singing superstars such as Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, Elvis Presley, and the fab four or The Beatles. In a professional singing and acting career spanning more than six decades, Sinatra demonstrated a remarkable ability to maintain his popular appeal to his fans across almost two generations.

Last weekend my son came home for a visit from college. He asked if I would help him with a project for one of his classes. For one of his general education courses he needed to take a class in music appreciation. Each person in the class was to bring a collection of songs from a group or artist that was popular in their parent’s era. He signed up to bring a collection of Beatles songs. I made him promise that he would point out to the class that his father is much older than I am and that the collections of Beatles songs were from his music library. Having set these parameters we began looking through the old albums that my husband and I still keep.

The Who have been around since the mid sixties and are still going strong. The U.K. leg of their latest tour is now coming to a close with a couple of home turf gigs at Wembley Arena, almost just round the corner from where they grew up.
With over 40 years worth of material to choose from it must be a case of what to leave out the set rather than what to put in it.
With Keith Moon and John Entwhistle sadly departed the flag continues to be flown by Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsend, now both in their early sixties.

No one helped to popularize reggae music around the world more than Bob Marley. Many of his songs became anthems and the Bob Marley legend was born. He managed to cross over to a record buying public that previously had not considered buying reggae. He was adored in his birthplace of Jamaica and around the world. Bob had grown up in the slum area of Trenchtown, in Kingston, forever immortalized in his music. The Jamaican people truly felt he was one of them, how ever far he traveled. His devotion to his Rastafarian religion was a constant in his life. He was a walking advertisement for it, with his dreadlocks, a spliff hanging from his lips and his lyrics about Jah.

Walsegg-Stuppach intended to have the mass performed as his own, once completed, he being only 28 at the time, never to remarry.
Mozart died before he could complete this epic work, although he left quite a few manuscript pages showing what he was thinking of, some in quite a bit of detail, enabling the work to be completed by others.
Constanze Mozart, after Mozart’s death, was keen to get the work finished because of the 50% still owing upon completion. She asked Joseph von Eybler, a friend and pupil of Mozart to finish the score. He did some work on it but, because of his own composing, felt he was unable to complete the work and returned it.
Franz Xaver Sussmayer, another friend and pupil of Mozart’s was then given the task of finishing the work.
Using Mozart’s original drafts, Eybler’s additional work, both his own competency and the fact that he had been taught by Mozart, he finished the requiem. He had to add the movements which would be normal in a requiem, whilst ending with adaptations of the first two movements.

Even though country music may not have been your bag, you may make an exception in the case of Johnny Cash. There is something about the way that he used his voice to convey emotion and meaning in the lyrics that makes his work wonderful to hear. And he didn’t start out in country at all.
My interest in Johnny Cash music isn’t new at all. I have listened to his work since I was a kid and I have to admit that I really didn’t associate him with country music at all. There is something unique about his voice and style that seems to transcend categories. I can’t place him in any particular “type” of music. This may be the great appeal that Johnny Cash music has for me.

Before rock and roll burst onto the scene, pop music was more sedate and one of its leading exponents was Patti Page. She began as a country music singer and crossed over into pop, with country-tinged records that were very popular with the public. Page was born into a poor, farming family in 1927 in Claremore, Oklahoma. Her vocal talent and good looks were to carry her away into stardom. She was Clara Ann Fowler before she assumed her stage name.

For each of us of the sixties, seventies, and/or eighties, the Bob Marley legend takes on different and specific meaning, rife with peaceful love, spiritual reclamation, and even, at the end, melancholia (at losing Marley to cancer). For some of us, Marley was about supreme reggae— invigorating music and profound lyrics; for others, he was accompaniment to our studies, our search for self, or our spiritual seeking; for still others, Marley was about pure love. The Bob Marley legend began with him, because of him, and continues with those of us who remember him.
We say Bob Marley legend because Marley made it in a conformist culture by first fitting in to that milieu (look at his pictures in the sixties: he and The [other] Wailers wore the suits, the thin ties, the shortly-cropped hairdos…) then by evolving, physically, emotionally, spiritually (consider the dreads, yeah, but remember the philosophy, the religion, the attitude, the words).

Unsigned Talent!
Incredibly though, Alexander Lunev is unsigned to any record label in the rest of Europe and America as yet, however, he is rapidly catching the attention of many important players in the music industry. Alex’s instrumental ambient type music is perhaps more akin to that of the famous Vangelis, whilst his methodically sequenced and lush electronic progressive genre is probably closer to that of Ryuichi Sakamoto.

Lieder - Compare and Contrast
Schubert, Schumann, and Brahms all wrote about aspects of nature in the texts of their songs. Schubert used very flowery language in “Die Mondnacht” to describe the beautiful scenery. The song is about the moonlight making nature glisten and gleam. Schumann did the same in “Mondnacht,” but instead of focusing on the moonlight, he wrote about the breeze blowing through the forest on a clear night. Brahms was the only composer out of the three to be different in his writing. Although his song “An den Mond” does focus on the moonlight, it is more melancholy than the other two songs.

Ahhhh…. Paula Abdul… what a beauty! And what a dancer! And hey - I actually liked her music!
But does Paula have what it takes to be a thriving part of the American Idol committee? She’s been having a much harder time lately getting the words out of her mouth. With good reason, she has had her medical problems. Drunken behavior may not be a fair accusation.
Paula Abdul has survived what has finally been discovered as a rare, painful chronic neurological disorder: Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD).

The first Johnny Cash poster that I ever had was in college. It actually belonged to my roommate in my freshman year dorm room. He was the one to get me into Johnny Cash songs in the first place. At the time, I had the popular opinion that all country music was just there for ignorant rednecks and hicks, and so was shocked by the Johnny Cash posters on the wall, but boy did he show me how wrong I was. We would stay up all night listening to Johnny Cash music, and talking about, well, just about anything and everything that there was out there to talk about.
